“Right after his capture, I saw a military policeman escorting Radenkovic to the forward commanding place in the combat area. In the afternoon hours on that same day the whole Military Police Unit returned to its base in Maoca. Then I saw Radenkovic again. He was sitting on a chair in front of the duty military policeman’s office. He was neither tied nor guarded by anybody,” Fazlovic said.

Fazlovic said that he guarded the summer house, where Radenkovic was held, every third day. The witness said that, during his shifts he often spoke to Radenkovic, who “could leave the room, because the door was not closed”.

“We often sat together in front of the house. Sometimes he had coffee with me or other military policemen,” Fazlovic said, adding that Radenkovic did not complain, but he just looked scared.

Witness Fazlovic said that he did not see that indictees Nusret Guso and Mirsad Suljagic visited Radenkovic.

According to the Brcko Cantonal Prosecution’s charges, Guso and Suljagic, former members of the 108th Motorised Brigade of ABiH, questioned prisoner of war Branko Radenkovic and physically abused him on August 3, 1994.

The indictment alleges that Guso was Assistant Commander for Morale with the Military Police Company and Suljagic was Security Officer.

Witness Mithat Becic said that he spoke to Radenkovic through the bars on the door.

“While we spoke, he did not complain about how they treated him. I did not notice any injuries on him,” Becic said, adding that nobody took Radenkovic for examinations during his shifts.

The trial is due to continue on April 3.M.A.
